【摘要】：“三言”中的第二部《警世通言》是我國古代白話短篇小說的高峰,對后世文學(xué)發(fā)展具有重大的影響,但有關(guān)《警世通言》的翻譯研究屈指可數(shù)。本文研究楊曙輝和楊韻琴翻譯的《警世通言》首部英文全譯本,其意義毋庸贅言。 本文基于歸化與異化理論、文化翻譯觀和功能翻譯理論,采用文本分析和案例分析的方法,從文化角度探求楊曙輝和楊韻琴譯本在稱謂、成語和宗教詞匯的翻譯特色與得失。在稱謂文化方面,楊曙輝和楊韻琴主要采取歸化為主、異化為輔的翻譯策略。在成語文化方面,本文通過對原著的多個(gè)譯本進(jìn)行對比分析,指出其各自的翻譯特色和最佳譯文,認(rèn)為楊曙輝和楊韻琴的譯文中體現(xiàn)了歸化和異化相結(jié)合的特點(diǎn)。在宗教文化方面,本文通過分析佛教和道教中關(guān)于人物和術(shù)語的翻譯,指出楊曙輝和楊韻琴的異化手法更貼近原文。 總體看來,楊曙輝和楊韻琴的譯本兼具可讀性和趣味性,較成功地展示和傳播了中國白話小說和中華文化,可仍存在些誤譯和欠譯,譯者應(yīng)注意詞語的細(xì)微差異并適當(dāng)?shù)靥砑有┳⒔?以有利于讀者更好地理解原著。
[Abstract]:The second part of "three words" is the peak of our country's ancient vernacular short stories, which has a great influence on the development of later literature. However, there are only a few studies on the translation of Tongyan. This paper studies the first full English translation of Yang Shuhui and Yang Yengqin, and its significance needs not be recounted. Based on the theory of domestication and alienation, the theory of cultural translation and functional translation, this paper uses the methods of text analysis and case analysis to explore the appellation of Yang Shuhui and Yang Fuqin from a cultural point of view. In terms of appellation culture, Yang Shuhui and Yang Yengqin mainly adopt the translation strategy of domestication and alienation. In the aspect of idiom culture, this paper makes a contrastive analysis of several versions of the original works. It is pointed out that the translation of Yang Shuhui and Yang Yuqin embodies the combination of domestication and alienation. In the aspect of religious culture, this paper analyzes the translation of characters and terms in Buddhism and Taoism. It is pointed out that the alienation of Yang Shuhui and Yang Youqin is closer to the original text. In general, the translations of Yang Shuhui and Yang Yengqin are both readable and interesting. They have successfully displayed and disseminated Chinese vernacular novels and Chinese culture, but there are still some mistranslations and undertranslations. The translator should pay attention to the nuances of the words and add some notes to help the readers better understand the original works.
