　　從國內外幾十年來對美國女作家麥卡勒斯小說研究批評中,“精神隔離”的主題成為對麥卡勒斯的評論的關鍵詞,這樣不僅使麥卡勒斯的作品創(chuàng)作主題顯得單一,而且作品脫離了特定的歷史文化語境,削弱了小說的價值。不同時期中,研究麥卡勒斯作品的研究者都嘗試著突破“新批評”對麥卡勒斯批評的局限,在不同的意識形態(tài)領域對精神隔離的主題進行創(chuàng)新性、探索性的解讀。 酷兒理論開拓麥卡勒斯小說研究的事業(yè),具有突破性的意義。洛里·J.肯沙夫特在“同性愛與人際關系:從‘累斯臏’的角度解讀卡森·麥卡勒斯”的文章中,嘗試從酷兒文化背景下闡釋麥卡勒斯“精神隔離”主題。她指出同性愛是麥卡勒斯小說中反復出現(xiàn)的一個主題,她認為,應該借助同性戀的視覺重新審視麥卡勒斯的小說世界。因此,麥卡勒斯的主題有了新的解讀:禁區(qū)中的愛使個體比常人更深切地體會到孤獨和隔絕;作者對青少年題材的偏好也得到了相應的解釋:內化的同性戀恐懼使她不能直接表現(xiàn)成年女子的同性愛欲望,而是選擇少女的性困惑來表達同性戀者對異性戀文化反抗和順從的矛盾心理;而且作品的怪誕手法也由此產(chǎn)生了新的意義:在一個視同性戀為殘疾的文化語境之中,怪誕恰當?shù)姆从沉诉吘壢烁艚^的生存狀態(tài)。 本文...
