朱利安·巴恩斯(Julian Barnes,1946—)是自20世紀(jì)80年代以來活躍于英國(guó)當(dāng)代文壇的重要作家。巴恩斯打破傳統(tǒng)小說創(chuàng)作的一般模式,大膽嘗試多種實(shí)驗(yàn)創(chuàng)新手法,被譽(yù)為“英國(guó)文壇的變色龍”。本文嘗試解讀令巴恩斯蜚聲國(guó)際文壇,并曾獲得1984年英國(guó)“布克獎(jiǎng)”提名的作品《福樓拜的鸚鵡》(Flaubert’s Parrot)。 《福樓拜的鸚鵡》中的敘事者布雷斯韋特(Braithwaite)在追尋關(guān)于福樓拜的歷史真實(shí)過程中使盡渾身解數(shù),但對(duì)福樓拜歷史現(xiàn)實(shí)的了解也只能是不完全的、暫時(shí)性的。他最終表明對(duì)歷史真實(shí)的不確定性的理解,同時(shí)也表明了希望捕捉到確定的歷史真實(shí)的嘗試極其可笑,也注定要失敗。本論文從該小說的文本現(xiàn)實(shí)出發(fā),以文本細(xì)讀的方式比較細(xì)致地對(duì)文本進(jìn)行梳理,闡釋了作者在小說中通過各種表現(xiàn)手法對(duì)歷史真實(shí)的充分性和可靠性提出質(zhì)疑。 本論文分為三章。第一章論述了主人公在尋求福樓拜真實(shí)形象的過程中發(fā)現(xiàn)相關(guān)證據(jù)如雕像、照片及福樓拜曾經(jīng)使用過的鸚鵡標(biāo)本多被贗品所代替,真品無處可尋。第二章闡述了作者呈現(xiàn)多個(gè)版本的福樓拜傳記,意在說明存在于傳記作家們的闡釋和讀者的解讀中的福樓拜,其真實(shí)性是不斷變化的...
