　　從以往對奧賽羅劇本的意象功能分析來看,評論家們主要關(guān)注的是意象在劇中起何作用的問題,而很少探討、論述如何起作用的問題,也就是說意象起作用的過程缺少應(yīng)有的關(guān)注和探索。本文在前人的研究基礎(chǔ)上深入探討了奧賽羅劇中的惡魔意象是如何起作用的問題。與以往的評論主要關(guān)注劇中意象的靜態(tài)內(nèi)容不同,本文在充分挖掘劇中惡魔意象的動態(tài)性或動力性特征的基礎(chǔ)上詳細論述了這一特征在劇中所起的作用。具體地說,惡魔意象在劇中起到推動戲劇動作的發(fā)展、引起并加劇戲劇沖突達到高潮的作用。它的作用模式主要表現(xiàn)在依阿哥作為惡魔意象的主體使用惡魔意象作用于布羅班修、卡西歐和奧賽羅,并引起他們的心理變化以及外部行為的變化。這種作用模式推動整個戲劇動作的發(fā)展。另外,本文還探討了惡魔意象的人物刻畫功能。著重論述了惡魔意象是如何將依阿哥刻畫成一位投毒手、捕獵者和毀滅者的形象的,同時還利用了結(jié)構(gòu)主義中的二元對立思想論述了惡魔意象及它的對立面是如何刻畫出奧賽羅高貴和低劣并存的人物性格。
