論海明威以《老人與海》為典型代表的文體風(fēng)格

美國作家海明威的代表作《老人與!穬(nèi)涵豐富,耐人尋味。有關(guān)它的研究可謂是汗牛充棟,它們大都集中在作品的思想內(nèi)容和主人公的象征意義的探尋,相比之下,對作品的藝術(shù)風(fēng)格和表現(xiàn)手法的研究就顯得薄弱了。針對于此,本文從文學(xué)文體學(xué)的角度對《老人與!藩毺氐奈捏w特色進(jìn)行較為系統(tǒng)的分析,運用統(tǒng)計法和描寫法揭示其風(fēng)格要素即小說的語言材料,表達(dá)方式和敘事方式的具體特征。 在小說的語言特色方面,本文通過選取典型段落進(jìn)行統(tǒng)計和分析以印證海明威樸實的文風(fēng)。他喜用結(jié)構(gòu)簡單的句子,或者并列句,用最常見的連詞聯(lián)系起來,選用最普通的日常詞匯,很少使用形容詞,即便選用也是最尋常的形容詞,而且常常重復(fù)。簡潔、樸實的文體特色再度體現(xiàn)了海明威創(chuàng)作風(fēng)格——“冰山”原則,八分之一露出水面,八分之七則含而不露,這就給讀者的留下了巨大的闡釋空間。 “冰山”原則還體現(xiàn)在海明威含蓄的敘事手法上。在《老人與!分,作者自由巧妙地轉(zhuǎn)換敘述人稱,將自己的主觀態(tài)度和感情隱藏起來,通過故事主角的內(nèi)心獨白意識流般的敘述,冷靜客觀又精確地勾勒出敘述故事。自始至終隱喻在字里行間的十字架畫面,賦予小說文本濃厚的宗教色彩。 《老人與!肥呛C魍陀^、簡潔、樸實的創(chuàng)作美學(xué)思想的完美體現(xiàn)。
