小說《梅西所知》的敘事技巧分析

【摘要】：本論文主要研究亨利·詹姆斯在小說《梅西所知》中運用的敘事技巧。雖然《梅西所知》并非詹姆斯的代表作,但是由于它對詹姆斯敘事理論形成的重要影響,因此對該部小說的研究探討具有重大意義。本文從敘事視角、意識中心的心理呈現(xiàn)以及戲劇化呈現(xiàn)等方面,對小說中運用的敘事技巧進(jìn)行了全方位研究。 詹姆斯在小說中使用了多元化視角。所謂“多元化視角”是指在小說中運用的兩種敘事角度—第三人稱有限視角和第三人稱全知全能視角,其中第三人稱有限視角是小說的主要敘事視角。小說開篇詹姆斯選擇第三人稱全知全能視角描寫不同人物的心理活動,闡釋復(fù)雜的世俗背景。隨著主人公年齡漸長,詹姆斯開始倚重第三人稱有限視角,使主人公成為“印象記錄員”和“困惑生產(chǎn)者”。此外,詹姆斯在小說中創(chuàng)新地運用了心理聯(lián)想、心理間接呈現(xiàn)與敘事者分析等技巧展現(xiàn)中心意識的心理世界。最后,戲劇化展現(xiàn)是詹姆斯敘事理論的重要內(nèi)容。在《梅西所知》中,有關(guān)戲劇元素的隱喻和場景展示是戲劇化展現(xiàn)的兩種表現(xiàn)形式。詹姆斯在小說中設(shè)計了多樣化的劇場表演場景,作為小說與戲劇融合的象征。另外,詹姆斯運用戲劇展示的表現(xiàn)手法來達(dá)到“真實氛圍”的藝術(shù)效果。 小說的敘事技巧代表了從傳統(tǒng)寫作手法到現(xiàn)代寫作手法的轉(zhuǎn)變。這些技巧是詹姆斯現(xiàn)代敘事手法的初期嘗試,為詹姆斯后期形成的敘事理論體系中的有限第三人稱視角、意識中心和作者的隱退等理論奠定了基礎(chǔ)。
[Abstract]:This thesis mainly studies the narrative techniques used by Henry James in the novel known to Messi. Although "what Messi knows" is not James' masterpiece, it is of great significance to the study of this novel because of its important influence on the formation of James' narrative theory. This paper studies the narrative techniques used in the novel from the perspective of narrative, the psychological presentation of the consciousness center and the dramatic presentation. James used multiple perspectives in his novel. The so-called "pluralistic perspective" refers to two narrative angles used in the novel-the third person limited perspective and the third person omniscient all-round perspective, among which the third person limited perspective is the main narrative angle of the novel. James chose the third person omniscience angle of view to describe the psychological activities of different characters and explain the complicated secular background at the beginning of the novel. With the age of the protagonist, James began to rely on the limited perspective of the third person, making the protagonist "impression recorder" and "confused producer". In addition, James innovatively uses the techniques of psychological association, psychological indirect presentation and narrator analysis to show the psychological world of central consciousness. Finally, dramatic presentation is an important part of James' narrative theory. In what Messi knows, the metaphors of dramatic elements and the presentation of scenes are two forms of dramatic presentation. James designed a variety of theatrical scenes in his novel as a symbol of the fusion of fiction and drama. In addition, James uses theatrical presentation to achieve the artistic effect of "real atmosphere". The narrative technique of the novel represents the transformation from the traditional writing technique to the modern writing technique. These techniques are the initial attempt of James' modern narrative techniques and lay the foundation for the theories of limited third person perspective consciousness center and retreats of the author in the later stage of James's narrative theory system.
