【摘要】：美國著名作家杰克·倫敦(1876—1916)是一位偉大的文學(xué)大師。他給世人留下了大量的作品,其中,《野性的呼喚》尤為著名。該作品典型地展現(xiàn)了美國邊疆精神。邊疆精神孕于美國遼闊的邊疆,成為美國民族精神的重要部分。本論文從冒險精神,實用主義和個人主義為切入點,來系統(tǒng)研究它們在《野性的呼喚》中的集中體現(xiàn)。 除緒論和結(jié)論之外,本論文主要由以下三章組成。第一章探討冒險精神在查爾斯一家和約翰·桑頓這些人物身上的體現(xiàn)。冒險精神指的是邊疆開拓者在未知領(lǐng)域進(jìn)行探索、開拓、征服的勇氣和大無畏精神,這種精神在查爾斯一家和約翰·桑頓人物形象上得到了藝術(shù)體現(xiàn)。他們都是闖入阿拉斯加邊疆的淘金者,前者盲目無知,后者則經(jīng)驗豐富,但結(jié)果都為自己的冒險行為付出了生命的代價。第二章分析實用主義在布克身上的體現(xiàn)。實用主義是開拓者在新的環(huán)境中靈活應(yīng)變以求生存和發(fā)展的哲學(xué)觀念,這種觀念在布克身上表現(xiàn)得十分生動。作為這種哲學(xué)觀念的一種化身,布克在城市化的加利福利亞通過自己的奮斗成為一只高度文明的犬王。另外,他又在野蠻的阿拉斯加邊疆迅速調(diào)整,適應(yīng)惡劣的環(huán)境并成功地成為一位雪橇狗首領(lǐng)。第三章討論個人主義在布克四任主人公和斯皮茨身上的體現(xiàn)。個人主義具有豐富的內(nèi)涵,然而倫敦在小說中更多地展現(xiàn)了個人主義不合理的一面——自我主義。布克的四任主人公都以自我為中心,殘忍地對待雪橇狗和他人；斯皮茨原本是雪橇狗隊伍中的首領(lǐng),但因其極端的自我主義最后陷入孤立無援的境地而丟掉了性命。 通過對《野性的呼喚》中美國邊疆精神的系統(tǒng)研究,本論文得出如下結(jié)論：在美國的轉(zhuǎn)折期,倫敦把美國邊疆精神融入該小說,不僅使整個民族重溫了邊疆精神,同時也思考了工業(yè)社會與邊疆精神相悖的相關(guān)問題。這部小說超越了簡單的動物故事而具有了文學(xué)的嚴(yán)肅性,其思想之深刻使之成為了現(xiàn)代美國文學(xué)的經(jīng)典。
[Abstract]:Jack London, a famous American writer, was a great literary master in 1876-1916. He left a large number of works to the world, among them, the call of the Wild is particularly famous. This work is typical of the American frontier spirit. Frontier spirit born in the vast frontier of the United States, become an important part of the national spirit of the United States. In this paper, we systematically study their concentration in call of Wild from the perspective of adventurism, pragmatism and individualism. In addition to the introduction and conclusions, this paper mainly consists of the following three chapters. The first chapter discusses the spirit of adventure in the Charles family and John Thornton these figures. The spirit of adventure refers to the courage and fearlessness of frontier pioneers to explore, exploit, and conquer in the unknown. This spirit is embodied in the characters of the Charles family and John Thornton. They were gold miners who broke into the Alaska frontier, the former blind and the latter experienced, but ended up paying the price of their lives for their adventures. Chapter two analyzes the embodiment of pragmatism in Booker. Pragmatism is a philosophy that pioneers adapted flexibly to survive and develop in the new environment, which is very vivid in Booker. As an embodiment of this philosophy, Booker became a highly civilized canine king through his struggle in urbanized California. In addition, he quickly adjusted to the harsh environment on the savage Alaska border and succeeded in becoming a sled dog leader. Chapter three discusses the embodiment of individualism in Booker's four heroes and Spitz. Individualism has rich connotations, however, London presents an unreasonable aspect of individualism in its novels-egoism. Booker's four protagonists are egocentric and cruel to sled dogs and others; Spitz, who was the leader of the sleigh dog team, lost his life because of his extreme egoism. Through a systematic study of the American frontier spirit in the call of Wild, this paper draws the following conclusions: in the turning point of the United States, London incorporated the American frontier spirit into the novel, which not only made the whole nation relive the frontier spirit. At the same time, the industrial society and the spirit of the frontier related issues. This novel transcends the simple animal story and has the seriousness of literature, and its profound thought makes it a classic of modern American literature.
