【摘要】:勞倫斯曾經(jīng)給他的朋友歐內(nèi)斯特·柯林斯寫過一封十分著名的信,在這封信中勞倫斯說:“我最偉大的宗教就是對血液與肉體的信仰”!髞磉@種信仰被稱之為“血液意識(shí)(blood-consciousness)”,學(xué)界對這封信有一個(gè)稱呼叫“勞倫斯的血液宣言”。許多勞倫斯研究者都注意到了這封信并對“血液意識(shí)”產(chǎn)生了一定的興趣。但是由于勞倫斯本人及其作品的復(fù)雜性,以及曾經(jīng)很長一段時(shí)間內(nèi)在文學(xué)史上的地位得不到確立和肯定的事實(shí),另外“血液意識(shí)”可供研究的資料也較為分散和雜亂,導(dǎo)致了關(guān)于“血液意識(shí)”的一個(gè)研究現(xiàn)狀——即幾乎絕大多數(shù)勞倫斯研究者都注意到了勞倫斯這一思想,也都在關(guān)于勞倫斯的研究文章中涉及到這一問題,但卻都是語焉不詳,這也與該問題一直處于研究熱點(diǎn)之外有一定關(guān)系。 “血液意識(shí)”作為勞倫斯的“最偉大的宗教”,事實(shí)上也是時(shí)代的產(chǎn)物,它的理論淵源于當(dāng)時(shí)的幾個(gè)著名思想家,經(jīng)過勞倫斯獨(dú)特個(gè)人經(jīng)歷的催化,結(jié)合他所涉獵的一些生理學(xué)知識(shí),以《血液宣言》為其誕生標(biāo)志!把阂庾R(shí)”對勞倫斯的思想和創(chuàng)作都產(chǎn)生了難以估量的影響。在思想方面,他是勞倫斯起源于基督教的三位一體思想的核心,是勞倫斯所發(fā)現(xiàn)的解決自然和人類文明之間的矛盾、男人和女人之間的矛盾的關(guān)鍵,也是勞倫斯所認(rèn)為的拯救即將滅亡的人類的唯一途徑;在創(chuàng)作方面,盡管勞倫斯的“血液意識(shí)”是具有一定獨(dú)創(chuàng)性的,但是與當(dāng)時(shí)文學(xué)界的其他作家而言,也并非具有本質(zhì)上的差異。但勞倫斯之難能可貴之處在于,當(dāng)同樣以非理性為主要導(dǎo)向的“血液意識(shí)”被內(nèi)化到作品中之時(shí),所呈現(xiàn)出來的是完全迥異于其他推崇非理性的作家流派的文學(xué)風(fēng)格和文學(xué)形態(tài),這是勞倫斯能夠在英國文學(xué)乃至世界文學(xué)界占有一席之地的重要原因之一。 因此,,在關(guān)于勞倫斯的研究專著和論文汗牛充棟之時(shí),將這一個(gè)被忽略的問題加以研究,對于在前輩學(xué)者的研究基礎(chǔ)上更加深入和深刻地理解勞倫斯有著十分重大的現(xiàn)實(shí)意義和研究價(jià)值,對于彼時(shí)的英國文學(xué)界的思潮和流派狀況的理解,也有著一定的積極意義。
