【摘要】：1978年,后殖民主義理論代表者,美國學(xué)者薩義德在他出版的理論著作《東方主義》中提出了東方主義。東方主義,被薩義德概括為西方對待東方的一種模式,即東方被西方視為西方控制、重構(gòu)以及君臨東方的一種方式。在西方的東方專家視野中,東方被貼上了落后、野蠻、愚昧、墮落、專制等的標(biāo)簽,而西方則是先進(jìn)、文明、開化、民主的象征。傳統(tǒng)的翻譯理論建立在對翻譯實(shí)踐的經(jīng)驗(yàn)總結(jié)上,從翻譯實(shí)踐中歸納出一系列用以衡量翻譯作品質(zhì)量優(yōu)劣的“標(biāo)準(zhǔn)”,以此來評價翻譯作品,指導(dǎo)翻譯實(shí)踐。而從東方主義角度來看,來自東方的經(jīng)典讀物若要被西方讀者廣泛接受,那么譯作一定要符合西方讀者對東方的期待。從這個角度來看,目的語的文化傾向必然會影響譯者內(nèi)在的翻譯活動,如翻譯策略選擇,內(nèi)容取舍等等。同時,譯文特征亦能夠折射出目的語的文化傾向。 《紅樓夢》是中國古典文學(xué)藝術(shù)的巔峰之作,蘊(yùn)含了豐富的中國文化內(nèi)涵,被稱為中國文化的百科全書。《紅樓夢》己被翻譯成20多種語言,其中英譯本就有14種之多。在《紅樓夢》翻譯論著中,絕大多數(shù)都是圍繞楊憲益夫婦以及霍克斯翁婿的全譯本展開的,然而,在《紅樓夢》海外傳播的過程中,王際真的兩個譯本起了不可忽視的作用。 本文通過對王際真《紅樓夢》兩個譯本中情節(jié)取舍、回目翻譯、人名翻譯以及詩詞歌賦翻譯進(jìn)行詳細(xì)的分析,探究譯作中的東方主義色彩,以此進(jìn)一步認(rèn)識東方主義及后殖民主義翻譯理論,同時也是將東方主義理論運(yùn)用到我國經(jīng)典文學(xué)著作海外傳播的一個嘗試。
