Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am Waning Jing from Class 2004652. I am writing to request to withdraw from two courses I have chosen this semester: Business Correspondence and A[[reciation of Famous English poems.
The reason is that my study load is so heavy this semester that I find it extremely difficult for me to manage eight courses. At the beginning of the semester, I was too confident of my ability to handle both my full-time studies and part-time job. Because I really must keep the part-time job, I have no other choice but to decrease my study load. If the two courses are available, I am planning to take them next academic year so that I will be able to complete all the courses successfully.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please contact me at 55559122. I am looking forward to your permission.

Dear Geoge,
I’m very glad to know that you’re soon entering university in your letter of Aug. 12th. Here I’d like to give my advice on how to choose a major.
I do know that you’ve been crazy about history since childhood. However, as to what you should choose to major in, I would advise you to take up computer science as your lifelong pursuit. My reasons are as follows. First, a university is a place where you are trained for your future career. Only when you obtained a good knowledge of advanced and technology can you survive in this competitive society, which is full of challenges and opportunities. Second, it is a fact that those who major in comupter science are mor likely to get a better-paid job that history majors. Finally, as you know, the computer science plays an increasingly significant role in our daily life and one can hardly lead a high quality life without any knowledge of computer. Therefore, I’m sure that you can enjoy a better prospect if you choose computer science.
Of course, I’m not denying the significance of history, which embodied the essence of human civilization. You may take it as your spare time hobby. I think you can also gain great enjoyment in it.
I hope the above can be of some help to you in your decision. I wish you could strike a balance between computer science and history. If you still have something unclear, don’t hesitate to write to me.
Yours,
John
