Journal of South China Agricultural University

Sponsored by South China Agricultural University, Journal of South China Agricultural Universitypublishes a wide range of papers in Agricultural Sciences. Featuring in the Plant Protection Section for publishing regular articles, Journal of South China Agricultural University maintains a leading position in publishing papers in agricultural sciences in China. It is one of China’s core journals in comprehensive agricultural sciences and in agricultural plant protection, and also the award-winning journal for many times. It is abstracted and indexed in more than 30 digest journals and databases. The journal mainly publishes the scientific and technical achievements of various fields and disciplines of the university under the following columns:Agronomy•Horticulture•Soil & Fertilizer (covering mainly crop culture and geoponics, crop genetics and breeding, pomology, olericulture, agricultural produce storage and processing, fruit and vegeta1ble storage and processing, tea science, soil science, crop nutrition and fertilization, agricultural environment protection) ;Plant protection (covering mainly plant pest control and research);Biological sciences( covering mainly botany, plant physiology, entomology, biochemistry, ecology, biophysics, and molecular biology);Forestry sciences(covering mainly silviculture, and forest management);Animal science &  veterinary medicine(covering mainly husbandry and veterinary medicine ,sericulture);Agricultural engineering and food sciences(covering mainly  agricultural mechanization, agricultural systems engineering and management engineering, agricultural machinery design and manufacture, wood science and engineering, landscape planning and design, food science);Information science(covering mainly GIS, land planning and utilization, computer science);Basic science(covering mainly mathematics, physics, chemistry; Reviews and Short communications.

 

Publication responsibilities:

- provide manuscript requirements and thesis writing templates;

- forbidden to publish the same research in more than one journal;

- find scientific misconducts and their treatments;

- editorial departments have the right to modify and abridge the paper;

- the order of the authors has been set after submission according to their contribution to the research, so any change should be endorsed and signed by all authors to preserve the author's copyright;

- the remuneration we pay has included author's copyright fee;

 

Editorial responsibilities:

- assist the editorial director to complete the editing, publication, and distribution of periodicals tasks;

- participate actively in relevant professional academic activities; understand the dynamics of teaching and research trends in in-depth educational departments and relevant departments; read professional journals; master both at home and abroad development situation and trend of related disciplines; organize and discover new manuscripts;

- register the manuscript; make sure the article has no academic misconducts; review it within two workdays after receiving the article (to meet the requirements of normative and scientific principles), and send it to the experts;  

- decide to accept or reject articles according to the reviewers ' judgments;

- revise initially the accepted article according to the specifications so that the author can meet the requirements of publication as much as possible when revising the draft;

- edit the final manuscript reviewed by the chief editor; make sure the manuscript is complete, clear and orderly;

- take turns to be the executive editors, responsible for overall work of current periodicals;

- proofread manuscripts; ensure the error rate does not exceed the limit of the standards prescribed by the relevant departments of our country;

- host or participate in editorial workshop; sum up experience; give suggestions for promoting and improving the quality of proposals;

- do secretarial work of editorial office;

- complete other tasks assigned by the leadership.

 

Author’s responsibilities:

- read manuscript requirements carefully and sign posting declaration before submission;

- submit solely the research to our journal;

- file contents involve no country confidentiality;

- do not infringe any third party's copyright;

- all authors have made significant contributions to the research;

- authors obliged to provide revision and correct mistakes of the article according to the requirements made by editorial department;

- provide the financial projects involved; list in detail bibliography and acknowledgments for the staff involved in the research.

 

Reviewer’s responsibilities:

- judgments should be objective and specific;

- articles are free from incorrect values;

- make specific suggestions of modifications and deletions; correct directly the general errors, inappropriate sentences and languages in the articles that have met our requirements;

- list specific reasons and offer further research directions, methods and available data for theses that have not met our requirements;

- review articles confidentially according to our blind review principles;

- reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research and authors;

- return the manuscript that can not be reviewed properly to editorial department within 2 days.

 

Publishing ethics issues

- specific reference standards of academic misconduct

-- contribution of the same article to our journal and other publications; articles already published in the academic conference proceedings or other publications, as well as the official electronic version published on the Internet; main content similar to their own published papers without substantive progress, new approaches and new results;

-- fabricate research results and survey data; tamper with experimental data; hide unfavorable data and forge data results; plagiarize and misappropriate others’ academic research (including papers, monographs, reports, pictures, etc.); cite others' treatises, data and results without instructions and  listed references; fabricate documents;

- treatments of academic misconduct

-- editorial department will inform the author the ultimate results without delay; any author who questions these findings should submit a written application for review within 10 workdays after receiving the notification, otherwise the article will be considered to be given up;

-- if any scientific misconduct of the article is eventually identified, the subsequent process will be terminated and the manuscripts will be rejected immediately; authors will be publicly criticized and their work sectors will be notified if consequences are serious; if the paper has not been formally published, it will be rejected; if the paper has been published, the editorial will publish the formal withdrawal notice on our website and journal, delete it in the annual index of the directory and notify the collaboration database to delete the online version; editorial office reserves the right to claim compensation from the authors for the above adverse impacts;

-- the authors with serious misbehaviors will be listed in our author credit blacklists; the first author’s paper will not be accepted within 5 years; other authors’ papers will not be accepted within 3 years.
