[Abstract]:In the system of local power in Ming and Qing dynasties, the government and gentry are indispensable dualistic structures, which always maintain a delicate dynamic balance. There have been a lot of case studies and theoretical thinking about this in the academic circles. This paper focuses on the case of the construction of Wenchang Bridge in Fuzhou, and investigates the multidimensional dynamic relationship between the government and gentry formed by the construction of Wenchang Bridge. First, the construction of Wenchang Bridge before Qing Jiaqing Dynasty was an ancient big stone bridge, located outside the Dongmen Gate of Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province. Due to the geographical water situation, Wenchang Bridge is prone to decadence. Because it is the key to traffic, it is broken again and again.
