[Abstract]:Christian extolling of abstinence makes it more inclined to advocate celibacy. But in order to maintain human reproduction, the church did not completely deny marriage, but accepted it as a "second best" choice. Later, marriage was gradually raised as a sacrament by the Church, a symbol of the union of God and the Church. Church marriage norms experienced a long process of development until the late Middle Ages it was finally fully established and became the guiding model of the marriage life of the people in Western Europe. According to the church, marriage should be entered into by both men and women according to their own wishes, strictly monogamy should be practiced in form, and the legal marriage should not be dissolved once it is concluded. However, a person is not allowed to marry if there is an obstacle to marriage. The wedding ceremony should be held in a church, open and transparent and presided over by a priest. In addition, the church of married couples and sexual morality also made relevant regulations and constraints. On the whole, the practical effect of the church marriage norms in the Middle Ages is not very ideal, but its progressive significance can not be ignored. Especially in terms of modern marriage and family, it plays the role of founder in a certain sense, which makes the development of marriage civilization begin to enter a new era.
