【摘要】：1857年印度民族大起義失敗,莫臥兒帝國長達331年的統(tǒng)治宣告結(jié)束。英屬印度穆斯林的政治、經(jīng)濟、文化地位一落千丈。以賽義德·艾哈邁德·汗(Sayyid Ahmad Khan,1817-1898)為首的穆斯林知識精英階層主張興辦教育拯救穆斯林于危難。賽義德被稱為英屬印度穆斯林啟蒙思想家、伊斯蘭現(xiàn)代主義運動的先驅(qū)和領(lǐng)袖、教育家、社會改革家,還被追奉為“巴基斯坦運動之父”,而他創(chuàng)立的阿里加爾學院被穆罕默德·阿里·真納譽為“英屬印度穆斯林的軍火庫”。在某種程度上,西方現(xiàn)代教育是英屬印度伊斯蘭民族主義緣起和發(fā)展的直接推動力。作為當時印度最為活躍的現(xiàn)代高等教育機構(gòu),阿里加爾學院無疑是一個絕無僅有的例證。正如清華大學被英國哲學家稱為“一個美國移植來的大學”,阿里加爾學院素有“印度穆斯林的劍橋”之美譽。阿里加爾學院的“獨樹一幟”的教育機制不僅向?qū)W生傳播科學文化知識,更強調(diào)學生參與豐富多彩的課外實踐活動,注重整個校園氛圍和學生“個性”的塑造。隨著西方現(xiàn)代教育的深入傳播和發(fā)展,新一代穆斯林青年經(jīng)歷一場新興教育觀的洗禮,他們的現(xiàn)代民族意識和西方政治理念日趨建構(gòu)。阿里加爾學院最終成為19世紀后期至20世紀中期整個南亞穆斯林啟蒙運動的中心,甚至可以說是孕育巴基斯坦的搖籃。英屬印度高等院校林立,為什么唯獨阿里加爾學院成為“英屬印度穆斯林的軍火庫”?這就需要我們深入探究阿里加爾學院先驅(qū)們的建校動機、籌建過程和具體運行,并客觀公正地評價其在英屬印度伊斯蘭民族主義興起、發(fā)展進程中的作用和影響。
[Abstract]:The Indo-Indian uprising failed in 1857 and the 331-year reign of the Mughal Empire came to an end. The political, economic and cultural status of British Indian Muslims has plummeted. The Muslim intellectual elite, led by Sayyid Ahmad Khann 1817-1898, advocates education to save Muslims from distress. Said is known as the British Indian Muslim Enlightenment thinker, the pioneer and leader of the Islamic modernist movement, educator, social reformer, and also regarded as the "father of the Pakistan movement." The Arrigal Academy he founded was called "the arsenal of British Indian Muslims" by Mohamed Ali Jenner. To some extent, western modern education is the direct driving force of the origin and development of British Islamic nationalism in India. As the most active institution of modern higher education in India at the time, Arigal College was undoubtedly a unique example. Just as Tsinghua University is known by British philosophers as "an American transplant university", Arigal College is known as Cambridge for Indian Muslims. The "unique" educational mechanism of Arigal College not only disseminates scientific and cultural knowledge to students, but also emphasizes the participation of students in rich and colorful extracurricular practical activities, and pays attention to the whole campus atmosphere and the shaping of students'"personality". With the further spread and development of modern education in the West, the new generation of Muslim youth experienced a baptism of a new educational concept, and their modern national consciousness and western political idea were gradually constructed. Arigal College eventually became the center of the Muslim Enlightenment throughout South Asia from the late 19 th to the middle of the 20 th century, or even the cradle of Pakistan. British Indian institutions of higher learning, why only Arigal College to become "the British Indian Muslim arsenal"? It is necessary for us to probe into the motivation, preparation process and concrete operation of the pioneers of Arigal College, and to evaluate objectively and fairly its role and influence in the process of the rise and development of British Islamic nationalism in India.
