【摘要】：1955年在荷蘭萊頓召開了第八次西歐青年漢學(xué)家會議,新中國應(yīng)邀派出翦伯贊、周一良兩先生參加。這是冷戰(zhàn)開始之后,新中國史學(xué)工作者第一次與西方學(xué)者直接接觸。翦伯贊不僅與秦瑞、謝諾等西歐共產(chǎn)主義學(xué)者在會上進(jìn)行了交流,也對牟復(fù)禮等與會的美國學(xué)者表現(xiàn)得比較友好。會議著重討論了中國歷史分期問題、中國的學(xué)術(shù)自由問題、中國的人口問題、中國歷史由誰來書寫等問題。中國學(xué)者主張用馬克思主義歷史唯物論對中國歷史進(jìn)行分期,費(fèi)正清認(rèn)為中國存在著潛在的人口問題。西方學(xué)者在會議期間的討論中也提出了一些帶有政治色彩的爭論,他們批評中國存在學(xué)術(shù)不自由的問題,并擔(dān)心馬列學(xué)者可能會將在歷史上起過較大作用的胡適等人排除在中國歷史書寫對象之外。翦伯贊和周一良顯然對這些問題主要站在政策性立場上進(jìn)行了堅決反擊。揭示萊頓漢學(xué)會議作為冷戰(zhàn)后東西方學(xué)者第一次實際接觸的重要性,可以為了解冷戰(zhàn)學(xué)術(shù)史上政治和學(xué)術(shù)之間相互影響的豐富性和復(fù)雜性提供一個鮮明的個案研究。
[Abstract]:In 1955, the eighth Conference of Western European Young Sinologists was held in Leiden, the Netherlands. New China was invited to send Jian Bozan and Mr. Zhou Yiliang to attend. This was the first time since the Cold War that New China's historians were in direct contact with Western scholars. Jian Bozan not only exchanged views with Western European communist scholars such as Qin Rui, Sheno, etc., but also showed friendship to American scholars such as Mou Fu-li. The meeting focused on issues such as the division of Chinese history, China's academic freedom, China's population, and who wrote Chinese history. Chinese scholars advocate the division of Chinese history with Marxist historical materialism, and John King Fairbank believes that China has a potential population problem. Western scholars have also raised some politically charged arguments during their discussions at the conference, criticizing China for its lack of academic freedom. It is also feared that Marxism-Leninists may exclude Hu Shi and others, who have played an important role in history, from the writing of Chinese history. Jian Bozan and Zhou Yiliang apparently fought back against these issues from a policy standpoint. To reveal the importance of Leiden Sinology Conference as the first practical contact between Eastern and Western scholars after the Cold War can provide a clear case study for understanding the richness and complexity of the interaction between politics and academics in the academic history of the Cold War.
