美國史研究的新視野、新題材與新路徑——“美國史學(xué)新趨勢”圓桌對(duì)話

【摘要】:2012年11月16~18日,北京大學(xué)歷史學(xué)系和羅伯特·史密斯國際杰斐遜研究中心(The Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello)共同發(fā)起召開了一次美國史研討會(huì),有三十余名中外學(xué)者出席。會(huì)議的主題是"杰斐遜時(shí)代的民主、共和與國家構(gòu)建",與會(huì)學(xué)者圍繞"杰斐遜與民主問題"、"杰斐遜時(shí)代的共和主義"、"杰斐遜與早期美國的國族/國家構(gòu)建"三個(gè)專題展開討論。專題討論結(jié)束后,會(huì)議主辦方特意組織了兩場圓桌討論,采用對(duì)話的方式,交流關(guān)于美國史學(xué)近期動(dòng)向的信息和看法。第一場對(duì)話的重點(diǎn)是"美國早期史研究的新趨向",由斯坦福大學(xué)杰克·雷科夫教授主持;第二場對(duì)話的主題是"21世紀(jì)的美國史學(xué)",由北京大學(xué)王立新教授主持。參與者全部采用英語發(fā)言。以下文字系根據(jù)現(xiàn)場錄音整理和翻譯,為了盡可能保持對(duì)話的原貌,整理者采取原話實(shí)錄的方式,遇有錄音不清晰的地方則用省略號(hào)標(biāo)出;聽眾的反應(yīng)也以括注的方式說明。出于篇幅和閱讀效果的考慮,在翻譯時(shí)刪去了一些重復(fù)和脫離主題的部分,這些地方也相應(yīng)地加了省略號(hào)。括號(hào)中的文字系整理者所加,作為補(bǔ)充或說明。由于時(shí)間緊迫,僅就個(gè)別不清楚或不確切的地方,與具體的發(fā)言人做過核對(duì),整個(gè)發(fā)言并未經(jīng)本人審閱,其中疏漏和誤譯在所難免,敬希讀者明察。
[Abstract]:From November 2012 to 18th, the Department of History of Peking University and the Robert Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticelloo sponsored a seminar on American history. Attended by more than 30 Chinese and foreign scholars, the theme of the conference was "democracy in the Jefferson era," Republicanism and nation-building "were discussed around three topics:" Jefferson and democracy "," Republican in Jefferson's era "," Jefferson and the nation-building of the early United States ". The organizers of the meeting specially organized two round-table discussions, which took the form of dialogue. Exchange of information and views on recent developments in American historiography. The first session focused on "New Trends in early American History", chaired by Professor Jack Rakoff of Stanford University. The theme of the second dialogue, "American historiography on 21th century," was chaired by Professor Wang Lixin of Peking University. All participants spoke in English.
