《時代》周刊對抗戰(zhàn)時期中國首都重慶的形象塑造

【摘要】: 抗日戰(zhàn)爭是中華民族歷史上最具歷史性的事件之一。雖然這一歷史事件己經(jīng)結(jié)束65年了,但讀史可以明鑒,中華民族史上這段悲壯歷史永遠不會被遺忘。作為抗戰(zhàn)時期的中國戰(zhàn)時首都和世界反法西斯戰(zhàn)爭遠東地區(qū)的指揮中心,抗戰(zhàn)重慶研究是抗戰(zhàn)歷史研究中最具有代表性的主題之一,迄今為止,國內(nèi)外學術(shù)界卻鮮見有深度的專題研究,并且從傳播學視域的國家形象角度切入的研究幾乎沒有,不能不說是一大遺憾。 作為世界最重要的主流媒體之一,美國《時代》周刊一貫重視對中國的報道。《時代》周刊自創(chuàng)刊起就對中國投入了相當大的關(guān)注度,最頻繁報道中國的時段是抗戰(zhàn)時期,重慶作為中國的戰(zhàn)時首都,在《時代》的中國報道中所占的比重是相當大的。那么,《時代》塑造了一個怎樣的中國戰(zhàn)時首都重慶形象,這樣的形象塑造意味著什么,這就成為我們不得不關(guān)注的一個問題。 本研究的創(chuàng)新之處在于:從研究對象上看,在目前國內(nèi)外學者們對《時代》塑造的中國形象研究中,本文屬于填補空白的研究課題成果。本文以美國《時代》周刊為個案,在傳統(tǒng)史學研究基礎(chǔ)上,借用國家形象理論,試圖用話語分析法和內(nèi)容分析法,系統(tǒng)解讀該刊在二戰(zhàn)期間的重慶報道文本,探討《時代》周刊塑造戰(zhàn)時中國首都城市及其“國家形象傳播”的特征、傳播戰(zhàn)略和效果,以期獲得西方主流媒體構(gòu)建中國形象的歷史啟示。 在《時代》周刊的報道中,重慶不僅是國民政府的首都,而且逐漸成為中國的政治中心、經(jīng)濟中心和文化中心!稌r代》周刊塑造的抗戰(zhàn)重慶形象很重要的組成部分是“完美的領(lǐng)導人”蔣介石及其夫人宋美齡。重慶形象符號還包括“追求民主”,“為中國獨立不懈抗爭”的國民政府以及美國政府對其的支持。中國中國共產(chǎn)黨和國民黨左翼也是《時代》周刊塑造重慶國家形象符號的組成部分,但報道比重相對很少,而且多為批評!稌r代》周刊筆觸下,重慶大轟炸“使重慶成為偉大,把各種各樣參差不齊的男女融合成為一個社會”!稌r代》周刊塑造的波光粼粼的重慶的“愿景”以政治主題居多,并沒有展現(xiàn)一個立體鮮活的抗戰(zhàn)首都城市形象。 《時代》周刊對國民政府領(lǐng)導下的重慶寄予厚望,但二十世紀四十年代的中國的巨大變革沒能在重慶出現(xiàn),卻在中國中國共產(chǎn)黨領(lǐng)導的農(nóng)村發(fā)生了。這也是費正清所說的美國媒體的失敗。本文研究顯示,這種變化也沒有被《時代》周刊充分地報道。
[Abstract]:The War of Resistance against Japan is one of the most historic events in the history of the Chinese nation. Although this historical event has been over for 65 years, reading history can be a clear lesson. The history of the Chinese nation will never be forgotten, as the wartime capital of China and the command center of the world anti-fascist war in the far East. The study of Chongqing Anti-Japanese War is one of the most representative topics in the study of the history of the Anti-Japanese War, so far, the academic circles at home and abroad have rarely found in-depth thematic research. And from the perspective of national image communication almost no research, can not be said is a great regret. As one of the most important mainstream media in the world, time magazine of the United States has always attached importance to reporting on China. Time magazine has devoted considerable attention to China since its inception. The period of most frequent coverage of China was during the War of Resistance against Japan. Chongqing, as the wartime capital of China, accounted for a considerable proportion of China's coverage of "time". Time has shaped the image of Chongqing, the capital of China during the war, and what it means, which has become a problem that we have to pay close attention to. The innovation of this study lies in: from the point of view of the research object, in the present domestic and foreign scholars' research on the image of China created by the time. This paper takes time Weekly as a case study, on the basis of traditional historical research, uses the theory of national image to try to use discourse analysis and content analysis. This paper systematically interprets the Chongqing report text of the magazine during World War II, and probes into the characteristics, communication strategies and effects of time Weekly in shaping the wartime Chinese capital city and its "national image communication". In order to obtain the western mainstream media to construct the Chinese image historical enlightenment. In time, Chongqing is not only the capital of the national government, but also the political center of China. The important part of Chongqing's image created by time Weekly is "perfect leader" Jiang Jieshi and his wife Song Mei-ling. The image symbol of Chongqing also includes "pursuing democracy". The Chinese Communist Party and the left wing of the Kuomintang are also part of time Weekly's efforts to shape Chongqing's national image. However, the proportion of reports is relatively small, and most of them are criticism. Under the time Weekly, Chongqing bombing "made Chongqing great." "integrating a wide variety of men and women into a society." the "vision" of the shimmering Chongqing created by time Weekly is dominated by political themes. It does not show a solid and vivid image of the capital city of the War of Resistance against Japan. Time Weekly placed great hopes on Chongqing under the leadership of the national government, but in 1940s the great changes in China failed to appear in Chongqing. This is what John King Fairbank called the failure of the American media. This study shows that this change is not adequately reported by time magazine.
