【摘要】：郭嵩燾是洋務(wù)運動的發(fā)起者和中堅,也是中國近代第一位駐外外交官,他以極大熱情關(guān)注當(dāng)時科學(xué)技術(shù)最新成就,并認(rèn)真思考科學(xué)技術(shù)除器物之外的社會文化功能。然而,目前學(xué)界鮮有從科技視角對郭嵩燾與西學(xué)思想或從文化視角對他的科技興趣和認(rèn)知的專門系統(tǒng)的探討。作者以郭嵩燾游訪英國格林尼治天文臺、牛津大學(xué)天文臺和法國巴黎天文臺所記日記為案例和線索,將其所聞所感置于西方工業(yè)革命、中西方文化碰撞與融合的大背景下,在首次深入考證郭氏筆下天文儀器的基礎(chǔ)上,對其科學(xué)游訪活動及感知予以蠡測。
[Abstract]:Guo Songtao was the initiator and backbone of the Westernization Movement and the first foreign diplomat in modern China. He paid great attention to the latest achievements of science and technology at that time and seriously considered the social and cultural functions of science and technology other than objects. At present, however, there is seldom a systematic discussion of Guo Songtao's interest and cognition in science and technology from the perspective of science and technology or from the perspective of culture. Taking the diary kept by Guo Songtao's visit to Greenwich Observatory, Oxford University Observatory and Paris Observatory of France as a case and clue, the author puts his feelings and hearing under the background of the Western Industrial Revolution and the collision and integration of Chinese and Western cultures. On the basis of the first in-depth textual research on the astronomical instruments written by Guo, the scientific visiting activities and perception are measured.
