[Abstract]:On February 9th 2015, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory reported the longest dark strip on the surface of the sun on record, about 850,000 kilometers long, longer than the radius of the sun (700,000 kilometers, 10,000 kilometers or 10 mm). Looking at the HSOS color sphere observation records at the National Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huairou Solar Observatory, we found that this is not the longest dark strip in history. A dark strip longer than this one occurred on July 17th 2002 and is about 1 million kilometers long. Appearing in the high latitudes of the northern hemisphere of the sun, we can see the observational data of the solar chromosphere at Huairou base (fig. 1). The dark strip is the cold, dense, thin structure in the high temperature and thin coronal atmosphere on the sun, and it is the most visible and prominent surface of the chromosphere.
