直接內(nèi)存通信技術(shù)及其網(wǎng)卡原型研究

【摘要】:針對基于PCI等傳統(tǒng)I/O總線的網(wǎng)絡(luò)I/O方式中網(wǎng)絡(luò)通信性能受到相應(yīng)總線接口限制的問題,提出了直接內(nèi)存通信技術(shù)DMC(Direct Memory Communication,DMC)。使用此技術(shù)的DMC網(wǎng)卡可直接插入內(nèi)存插槽中,DMC網(wǎng)卡上的存儲空間被系統(tǒng)預(yù)留作為通信專用區(qū),并使用與普通內(nèi)存相同的方法進行管理和訪問。待發(fā)送的數(shù)據(jù)使用寫普通內(nèi)存的方法直接寫入DMC網(wǎng)卡的通信專用區(qū)中,對DMC網(wǎng)卡的通信專用區(qū)中收到的網(wǎng)絡(luò)數(shù)據(jù),用戶可使用讀普通內(nèi)存的方法獲得,從而實現(xiàn)了計算機內(nèi)存之間的直接通信。因此,DMC技術(shù)使網(wǎng)絡(luò)通信速度不受PCI等傳統(tǒng)I/O總線的限制,省略了傳統(tǒng)通信機制中網(wǎng)卡設(shè)備和內(nèi)存之間的數(shù)據(jù)拷貝工作,具有通信速率高、通信延遲小及操作簡單的特點。在高速光纖通道交換網(wǎng)中設(shè)計了DMC網(wǎng)卡原型,證明了DMC技術(shù)的正確性和可行性。
[Abstract]:Aiming at the problem that the performance of network communication is limited by the corresponding bus interface in the traditional I / O bus mode based on PCI and other traditional I / O bus, a direct memory communication technology (DMC (Direct Memory Communication,DMC) is proposed. The DMC card with this technique can be directly inserted into the memory slot and the storage space on the DMC network card is reserved as a communication private area and managed and accessed in the same way as normal memory. The data to be sent is written directly into the communication private area of the DMC network card by the method of writing ordinary memory. For the network data received in the communication private area of the DMC network card, the user can use the method of reading ordinary memory to obtain the data. Thus realized the direct communication between the computer memory. Therefore, the network communication speed is not limited by the traditional I / O bus such as PCI, and the data copy between the network card device and the memory is omitted in the traditional communication mechanism. It has the characteristics of high communication rate, small communication delay and simple operation. The prototype of DMC network card is designed in high speed fiber channel switching network, which proves the correctness and feasibility of DMC technology.
