【摘要】：研究了雙粒度目錄(DGD)下片上多核處理器的訪存行為以及DGD對(duì)不同共享行為的目錄開銷,以進(jìn)一步降低DGD結(jié)構(gòu)的面積開銷。針對(duì)DGD需要為共享緩存區(qū)域創(chuàng)建額外的塊目錄項(xiàng)的問題,提出了創(chuàng)新的區(qū)域共享的雙粒度目錄(RSDGD)結(jié)構(gòu)。該結(jié)構(gòu)可用一個(gè)區(qū)域共享目錄項(xiàng)同時(shí)維護(hù)最多3個(gè)共享者共享同一個(gè)緩存區(qū)域的一致性,從而能有效減少所需的塊目錄項(xiàng)數(shù)量,降低總的目錄開銷。實(shí)驗(yàn)結(jié)果表明,和原有的DGD相比,該結(jié)構(gòu)平均減少了25%的目錄空間需求,而僅產(chǎn)生了不到0.6%的性能損失。該結(jié)構(gòu)有效地降低了芯片的面積開銷,提高了目錄結(jié)構(gòu)的可伸縮性。
[Abstract]:The memory access behavior of multi-core processors on a dual-grained directory (DGD) and the directory overhead of DGD for different sharing behaviors are studied in order to further reduce the area overhead of DGD structure. In order to solve the problem that DGD needs to create additional block directory entries for shared cache regions, an innovative dual-grained directory (RSDGD) structure for shared regions is proposed. This structure can maintain the consistency of the same cache region shared by up to three sharers at the same time, which can effectively reduce the number of required block directory items and reduce the total directory overhead. The experimental results show that, compared with the original DGD, the structure reduces the requirement of directory space by 25% on average, and results in performance loss of less than 0.6%. This structure can effectively reduce the area overhead of the chip and improve the scalability of the directory structure.
