This dissertation has focused primarily on the aspects of physical design and aesthetics, investigates the relationship between the experiential qualities and the physical forms of human-made water features, for the purpose of enhancing how water is designed in urban landscape. The study has combined facts of International Horticultural Exposition 2011 Xi'an China, and showed significant relationship among water, design elements and design principles, to identify which design elements and design principles contribute to different kinds of experiences, and which design elements and design principles are most closely associated with water landscape design.
