In order to approach the world level of shipbuilding,science within twelve years,it is necessary to survey the recent development in shipbuilding research of some leading maritime countries.This paper starts with stating the achievments of shipbuilding research work in this himdred years and steps taken by some leading countries for further development after the World War Ⅱ.Then it goes on to discuss the main achievments in the field of ship hydrodynamics and ship strength in recent years,and these are subdivided into the following headings: Ship hydrodynamics:(1)Systematic model testing.(2)Model-ship co-relalion, (3)Theory of wave making resistance,(4) Systematic testing of model propellers, (5)Propeller theory,(6)Cavitation,erosion,Singing of propellers,(7)Ship motion and seakeeping quality. Strength of ships: (1) Strength testing of actual ships and stress measure- ments on sea way,(2)Strength testing in model tank,(3)Problem of long superstructure,(4) Elastic and plastic strength of ship plating,(5) Ship vibration, (6) Materials for ship construction. This paper also gives an account of the preliminary achievments of the Chinese shipbuilding research work in respective fields and expresses the opinion that a great deal of amount of work is left to be done for the Chinese naval architects.Finally,the paper suggests that China must redouble her effort to construct her main shipbuilding research base equiped with instruments and apparatus of highest quality and to train the research experts as quick as possible.

High speed displacement hull form plays an important role in the field of high speed crafts. The fitting of spray strips along chine is one of the means to achieve higher speed and to improve seakeeping qualities of the craft.Based on results of the model test, the influence of chine strips on resistance, rolling, pitching, heaving, loss of speed in wave and turning qualities of this form is discussed.

In the summer of 1974, an ancient junk of Sung Dynasty was excavated in Quanzhou Bay (known as Zayton Bay in ancient times), Fujian Province. This discovery is of archaeological importance, and of great value to the study of China's navigation history and the development of her ship-building in ancient times.Based on this discovery, the paper describes the characteristic form and struc ture of the Quanzhou ship. It's low block coefficient and midship section coefficient combined with its fine lines tend to overcome the disadvantage in speed resulted from the length-breadth ratio being too small. It's gentle ribband lines make it easier to bend the outside plank, and V-shaped section lines help to improve its seakeeping quality.The position and the form in joining the keel are well arranged. It is remarkable that its bottom is of double plating, it's side shell of triple plating, and lap joints are used alternatively with butt joints. This discovery provides a substantial proof to the description of Marco Polo, the famous Italian traveller, and to the investigation made by a Japanese scholar Kuwabara. The design that the ship is divided into 13 watertight compartments is in accord with Marco Polo's record. The advanced technology in shipbuilding and the development of rudder are also touched in this paper.Based on the statistic data of China's Shipbuilding in the past generations combined with the remaining demensions of the very archaic vessels, the paper draws an inference from the study of its stability, strength, cargo capacity and fresh.water capacity, and proposes in conclusion that the demension to be restored should be as follows:length of the ship 30m.breadth 10.5m.molded depth 5.0m.block coefficient 0.43.draft 3.5-3.75m.displacement weight 399-454 ton.
1974年夏,在福建省泉州灣的后渚港發(fā)掘出土了一艘宋代木造航海貨船。這一重大考古發(fā)現(xiàn),對研究泉州灣的海外交通史和我國造船發(fā)展史,都具有一定的價值。 本文結(jié)合這一發(fā)現(xiàn),闡述了泉州古船的船型和結(jié)構(gòu)特點。指出該船采用較小的方形系數(shù)和中剖面系數(shù)以及瘦削的型線,既可以克服長寬比過小對快速性帶來的不利,同時平緩的斜剖線可使彎曲外板的加工工藝得到改善。V形的橫剖線則有利于改善船的耐波性。 泉州古船龍骨連接部位的選擇和連接形式的設(shè)計均較為合理。底部為二重板,舷側(cè)為三重板,而且是搭接與平接結(jié)合使用。這一重要發(fā)現(xiàn),為意大利杰出旅行家Marco Polo的記敘和日本學(xué)者桑原騭藏的考證提供了極充分的實物證據(jù)。特別是用十二道水密艙壁板將全船分隔為十三個艙的設(shè)計,與Marco Polo對中國船舶的贊譽是驚人的一致。文中對造船工藝的先進性和航的發(fā)展演變等問題,也進行了分析。 本文還根據(jù)我國歷代船舶的統(tǒng)計資料,結(jié)合古船的殘存尺度,從穩(wěn)性、強度、貨艙容積和淡水艙容積等各個角度,推論本船應(yīng)有的尺度。作者對復(fù)原的建議是:船長30米,寬10.5米,型深5.0米,方形系數(shù)0.43,吃水3.5~3.75米,排水量399~454噸。
