[Abstract]:The Rio flame has been extinguished, but the Olympic moment is still visible. Athletes from all over the world fight for the motherland with their own responsibilities. Because of the restrictions on Olympic venues, most people choose to enjoy the games through the media, which requires media staff to be able to fully and truly report on the Olympic Games. As a traditional media, paper media is also struggling to show readers this grand event. However, due to the limitation of the timeliness and dissemination of paper media, the paper media has been subjected to a lot of limitations in the process of dissemination, and is gradually abandoned by people. But throughout the European countries, such as the United Kingdom, the dissemination of paper media is still enduring, and the institutional and cultural differences between the two countries are the main causes of the differences. This paper selects the news reports during the Rio Olympic Games in China Daily and the Times as the research object, uses the theory of news framework, the method of literature and content analysis to quantitatively analyze the samples, and analyzes the theme frame of the Olympic reports. This paper summarizes the differences between the two newspapers in the Olympic Games coverage from the three aspects of the Olympic report structure framework and the Olympic report discourse framework, and concludes: first, from the point of view of the similarities between the two reports, The China Daily and the Times mostly focus on athletes, coaches and events. In the reporting tendency, neutral reports are the main and the reporting objects are mostly local. In addition, most of the reports focus on highlighting the main events and on the way of language expression, both of them choose the combination of narrative and description. Secondly, on the similarities and differences, the Times mostly reports on the topic of news from the micro level, and China Daily tends to choose the macro level. In terms of reporting bias, China Daily pays more attention to positive reporting than the Times. In the structural framework, the Times pays more attention to the results in the news than the China Daily to the background. In the framework of discourse, the Times embodies more personal heroism and gold plot, exaggerating words and personality, while China Daily is more regular and careful in language. Through a large amount of data analysis, this paper also finds that the main reason for the difference in reporting between the two countries is that there are great differences in their respective cultures and their development, and this difference has existed since the birth of the two countries. Chinese sports culture pays more attention to macro and spirit, while western sports culture is mainly competitive, emphasizing the surpassing of individual ability. This results in two newspapers in the face of the same event will be reported according to the framework of their respective reports. In addition, the state system and mother tongue are also the reason. The purpose of this paper is to find out the successful experience of foreign media in the Olympic Games to make up for the shortage of Chinese print media. Therefore, from the conclusion, the China Daily should strengthen the diversity of the coverage in the future Olympic Games report, and pay more attention to the micro level and close the distance with the readers. Be more flexible in language, don't be rigid, this will play a good interaction with the reader.
