[Abstract]:In the New York Reserve Bank vault, if you move gold from room 2135 to room 4177, no one knows which country room 2135 represents, and no one knows which country room 4177 represents. But one deal was done. The United States: the largest gold warehouse, according to the latest ranking of official global gold reserves, published in January 2013 by the World Gold Council (WGC) and the International Financial Statistics Bureau (IFS), a subsidiary of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The U.S. central bank has 8133.5 tonnes of gold reserves, the largest of any country, accounting for 76.3x of its foreign exchange reserves.
