[Abstract]:On February 5, 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice formally sued Standard & Poor's for fraud in two types of structured financial products: residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and collateralised debt obligations (CDOs).As Standard & Poor's inflated credit ratings on these securities, distorting the real risk of securities, investors lost billions of dollars.Many of these investors have sought compensation under the 1989 Financial institutions Reform, recovery and Enforcement Act for financial institutions guaranteed by the federal government.The lawsuit also found that Standard & Poor's, in order to increase revenue and market share,
