解構(gòu)視野下的《專使》

亨利·詹姆斯(Henry James, 1843-1916)是十九世紀末二十世紀初美國杰出的小說家及文藝評論家,同時也是評論界公認的由現(xiàn)實主義向現(xiàn)代主義過渡的代表作家。詹姆斯的小說主要關(guān)注國際題材,并使用中心意識、提線人等敘事策略。作者將從這兩方面展示《專使》(1903)中詹姆斯是如何使用解構(gòu)策略的。 本文共分五部分。第一章和第二章主旨及理論簡介。第三章從歐美文化對立、融合方面討論了詹姆斯如何在《專使》中運用解構(gòu)策略,從而使對立統(tǒng)一體的弱勢方變成強勢方,徹底顛覆了《專使》開始的觀點。第四章是對《專使》的敘事策略的分析。詹姆斯敘事的特點是作者退場和自我表述共存。通過分析,我們知道,最終二元對立中的自我表述顛覆了作者退場所產(chǎn)生的效果。詹姆斯故去后的半個世紀,文壇出現(xiàn)了解構(gòu)主義。詹姆斯在有生之年并不知解構(gòu)為何物,但其小說卻處處體現(xiàn)了解構(gòu)主義,并為解構(gòu)作出了很好的注腳。
