【摘要】：上世紀(jì)80年代以來(lái),以英語(yǔ)出版的中國(guó)城市史著作主要都聚焦近代上海,但在區(qū)域研究以及中國(guó)現(xiàn)代性是否等同上海經(jīng)驗(yàn)的反思下,天津作為京畿門(mén)戶在政治經(jīng)濟(jì)文化方面的重要性與特殊性,也逐漸受到英美學(xué)界中國(guó)城市史研究者的關(guān)注。本文綜述近30年來(lái)英美學(xué)者研究近代天津城市的論著,將之與中國(guó)城市史理論研究的主要議題相比較,從政治、經(jīng)濟(jì)、文化與社會(huì)等面相來(lái)綜合評(píng)析這些海外天津研究,以此探究天津研究在城市史領(lǐng)域的新突破,進(jìn)而更好地了解天津在近代中國(guó)的歷史角色。
[Abstract]:Since the 1980s, most of the works on Chinese urban history published in English have focused on modern Shanghai, but under the reflection of regional studies and whether Chinese modernity is equivalent to Shanghai's experience, The importance and particularity of Tianjin as a gateway to political economy and culture have been paid more and more attention to by the scholars of Chinese urban history in Anglo-American academic circles. This paper summarizes the recent 30 years' works by British and American scholars on the study of modern Tianjin cities, compares them with the main topics of the theoretical study of Chinese urban history, and synthetically evaluates these overseas Tianjin studies from the political, economic, cultural and social perspectives. In order to explore the new breakthrough of Tianjin research in the field of urban history, and better understand Tianjin's historical role in modern China.
