[Abstract]:Jews occupy a prominent position in American society today, far beyond their small proportion of the population. In the three and a half centuries since the Jews set foot on the land of North America, they have gone through a long process, from a marginalized group to an indispensable and even an important part of the mainstream American society. The Jewish experience in America can be summarized as the history of cultural adaptation and cultural assimilation. However, despite the fact that Jews migrated to the United States as early as 1654, it was not until the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century that the ancient Jewish culture and the American culture came into contact with the arrival of a large number of Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe.Since then, American Jews have greatly accelerated their pace of cultural adaptation to the United States. From the historical point of view, this paper analyzes the American Jewish experience in the United States after 1924.These second and third generations of Jewish immigrants suffered both the Great Depression and the surge of anti-Semitism and the prosperity and progress of the decades since the end of World War II.Now, with the increasing rate of intermarriage and the declining birth rate, American Jews, as a group with their own national characteristics, are deeply worried about their own development prospects. The paper points out that the acculturation of American Jews reestablishes their Jewish identity at all stages of history and makes them play a unique role in the development of American society.
