【摘要】：20世紀(jì)70年代,在美國,很少有著作如同羅伯特·福格爾、斯坦利·英格爾曼的《艱難時(shí)代:美國黑人奴隸制經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)》掀起知識(shí)界那樣大的震動(dòng)。它一方面因其研究方法、研究視域、研究模式等的革新與突破,開創(chuàng)了美國奴隸制研究的新時(shí)期,在美國新經(jīng)濟(jì)史學(xué)以及奴隸制研究中都占有重要地位;另一方面又因其理論與方法的誤用乃至矛盾而備受爭議,典型地反映出當(dāng)時(shí)美國史學(xué)界對(duì)于新經(jīng)濟(jì)史學(xué)的分歧態(tài)度;然而,其成就與爭議也說明,量化研究在問題與視野的開掘上具有重大價(jià)值,實(shí)應(yīng)與質(zhì)性研究并肩而為史學(xué)研究方法中的兩棵樹。
[Abstract]:In the 1970s, there were few books in the United States that shook the intellectual world as much as Robert Vogel, Stanley Ingerman's hard Times: the Economics of American Black Slavery. On the one hand, because of the innovation and breakthrough of its research methods, research horizons and research models, it opened a new era of American slavery research, and played an important role in the study of American new economic history and slavery. On the other hand, it is controversial because of the misuse and even contradiction of its theory and method, which typically reflects the different attitude of American historiography towards the new economic historiography at that time. However, its achievements and controversies also show that quantitative research is of great value in the development of problems and horizons, and should be regarded as two trees in the methods of historical research alongside qualitative research.
