本文關(guān)鍵詞：勞工到精英—論美國華裔族群的美國夢

【摘要】：華人在美生活最早可以追溯到19世紀(jì)40年代末。那時的中國移民來到美國的主要目的是淘金或是尋找賺錢的機會。對于這些中國移民來說，美國夢等同于黃金夢或者說是金錢夢。他們的最終目標(biāo)是賺足錢后返回中國而不是定居美國。這些早期移民多數(shù)是下層勞工。工資低，社會地位低，同時還受到不平等對待。與此形成鮮明對比的是現(xiàn)在的美籍華人，他們所追求的美國夢相比于早期移民的對金錢的實際追求來說更加的美國化和多樣化。這些華人所追求的美國夢包含了對家庭，社會地位，經(jīng)濟狀況以及民權(quán)的要求，，不再是簡單意義上的以金錢為主的美國夢。 本文的研究主旨是美籍華人的美國夢。通過對書籍中及前人研究中美籍華人職業(yè)選擇的改變，家庭組成的變化，居住地的多樣化，社會及經(jīng)濟地位的提高以及政治參與度的加深，清晰地展示了美籍華人追求的美國夢的改變。同時，通過應(yīng)用社會分層理論，文章給出了華人對美國夢不懈追求的原因。 作為中國移民的首選，美國夢依舊是中國人移民美國的重要原因之一。通過對美籍華人追尋美國夢的類型和原因的論述，也為新移民提供一個深入了解美國以及美國夢的機會。
