【摘要】：South Korea and North Korea are technically still at war and have been in a truce since Korean war in 1950.North Korea's perennial nuclear development and tests are an enormous threat to South Korea.With increased level of nuclear weapons.it becomes more challenging for South Korea to deter North Korea.Thus.South Korea deployed Terminal High Altitude Area Defense(THAAD)missile defense system in order to counter North Korea's growing threats and use of ballistic missile and nuclear tests.However,many scholars strongly argue with impacts of THAAD.This research aims to analyze the impacts of THAAD system in terms of South Korea's national security.As the way to achieve that,I examine not only in detail the pros and cons position as to THAAD within South Korea,but also relations between neighboring countries in Northeast Asia to see the big picture.Besides discussing deterrence theory,this study also aims to find whether the theory could work in reality between two Koreas.The case of South Korea's security issue,which may lead to security problem of Northeast Asia after all,I make a list of peaceful suggestions which can help better future instead of arguing with THAAD deployment temporarily between China and the U.S.
