The modern large capacity telecommunication switching devices need more powerful CPU control system. The above system adapts new structure of three sets of independent buses, and employs an independent system bus arbitrator. Meanwhile, two kinds of key control modules called MPU (main processor unit) board and AM (administration module) board within the system are both bus oriented structure. The main CPU is MC68040, the coprocessors are Intel 82596CA and Cypress VIC068A respectively. MPU board and AM board run optional either hot swappable or parallel because of their internal parallel dual bus structure and independent shared box mechanism, these features made the bus operation on the backplane and the operation within the module execute exactly in the same time. The designed control modules have used in the BSP broadband switching platform, and can satisfy the real time performance requirements. Theoretically, the proposed central control system modules can prompt the overall system processing efficiency above 160%.
