基于非易失存儲(chǔ)器的細(xì)粒度檢查點(diǎn)(英文)
[Abstract]:New non-volatile memory provides high access speed, large capacity, byte access granularity, and non-volatile features. These features will open up new opportunities for fault tolerance. In this paper, a fine-grained checkpoint based on nonvolatile memory is proposed. We have added non-volatile memory management to the storage management module of the existing operating system kernel. A nonvolatile heap is also provided for fast memory allocation and checkpoint backup of related objects (or data structures) for upper layer applications. In order to realize fine-grained checkpoint, we distribute different objects (or data structures) in different virtual pages, and use the page protection mechanism provided by hardware to monitor the data modification. In this system, two objects (or data structures) in different virtual pages may be in the same physical page. Changes to one object will not affect monitoring of another object. The above mechanism enables us to monitor changes that are smaller than one page. Compared with the traditional checkpoint work based on page granularity, our mechanism can effectively reduce the amount of checkpoint copy data, thus making better use of memory bandwidth and improving performance.
