【摘要】：針對墨菲的研究還存在很多未涉及的領域,需要在個案研究、人物與機構、思想觀念等3方面繼續(xù)深入。以雅禮大學和銘賢學校為例,依據(jù)耶魯大學、歐柏林學院及他處所藏檔案與文獻,澄清之前研究中的若干漏失,研究墨菲設計思想的來源及發(fā)展、兩處方案形成過程及其對墨菲整個職業(yè)生涯的影響,對墨菲的執(zhí)業(yè)經(jīng)歷及其歷史貢獻的認識也有所改變:傳教士對雅禮建筑風格的確定起到關鍵作用,而該項目的委托與校內(nèi)最重要的兩處建筑均源出墨菲的合伙人丹納,后者則反映了墨菲在華經(jīng)歷與美國本土的聯(lián)系。所舉二例說明了占有一手檔案資料與細讀文本對建筑歷史研究的重要意義,同時提出應在整體史觀下開展比較研究,使對建筑師的歷史研究能夠真正豐滿起來,具有張力。
[Abstract]:There are still many uncovered fields in Murphy's research, which need to be further studied in three aspects: case study, characters and institutions, ideas and so on. Taking Yali University and Mingxian School as examples, according to the archives and literature collected by Yale University, Oberlin College and elsewhere, this paper clarifies some gaps in previous research, studies the source and development of Murphy's design thought, the formation process of the two schemes and their influence on Murphy's whole career, and also changes his understanding of Murphy's practice experience and his historical contribution: missionaries play a key role in determining Yali's architectural style. The entrustment of the project and the two most important buildings on the school come from Murphy's partner, Dana, who reflects Murphy's experience in China with the United States. Two examples are given to illustrate the significance of possession of first-hand archival materials and careful reading of texts for the study of architectural history. At the same time, it is pointed out that a comparative study should be carried out under the overall historical view so that the historical study of architects can be truly plump and tense.
